Green River

The Green River in Kentucky is a biodiversity hotspot and renowned for its excellent smallmouth and rock bass fishing. Spanning 384 miles, it's one of the state's largest and most navigable rivers. Below the dam during winter and early spring, you can also find fantastic walleye, sauger, and muskie fishing. This river boasts a diverse array of fish and freshwater mussels, with over 150 fish species and 70 mussel species recorded.

While floating the Green River, you'll encounter picturesque bluffs and abundant wildlife, from turkeys and deer to herons and turtles. Two access points are available in Taylor County: one at the Tailwater below the dam, marking the start of the Green River Paddle Trail, and the other at Roachville, mile marker 12.5. Always check river conditions and flow rates with the Corps of Engineers at (270) 465-4463 or the Louisville District website for safety. Flows over 800 CFS can be dangerous. Enjoy Kentucky's natural wonderland on the Green River!
