Scenic Barn Quilt Driving Tour

Quilting thrives as a cherished tradition in Kentucky, evoking feelings of home and family comfort. Explore the scenic beauty of Taylor County while admiring local artisans' work on the Scenic Barn Quilt Driving Tour.

Barn Quilt History:

The Barn Quilt Trail project began in Adams County, Ohio, inspired by Donna Sue Groves, who wanted to honor her quilting-loving mother with a barn quilt square. Her idea quickly gained momentum, leading to the creation of a driving tour featuring twenty quilt squares on barns. The project's success spread, with other communities eager to join. Kentucky embraced the Quilt Trail project, and it grew into a grassroots movement, extending beyond barns to floodwalls, craft shops, and restaurants.

On the Taylor County Quilt Trail, community members, including Taylor County High School students, paint these barn quilts. These quilts pay tribute to our rich heritage of family, farming, and quilting.

One standout quilt pattern is the Cathedral Window Quilt, among the thirteen on the Taylor County Quilt Trail. Its design mirrors the elegance of a church window, bringing a touch of cathedral beauty to our homes and barns. Visit this quilt pattern at 2979 Old Columbia Road in Campbellsville, Kentucky, and be captivated by its splendor.
