Christmas Vacation in Campbellsville Kentucky

Cathy Peabody • November 22, 2025

If you’re looking for a good old-fashioned Christmas celebrated with “kith and kin”, Campbellsville in Taylor County Kentucky is the place to be. Gather your family – even your cousin Eddie – for a fun-filled holiday kick-off and a favorite among Campbellsville KY events.

You simply cannot miss Campbellsville’s annual Christmas parade, this year inspired by the classic movie “Christmas Vacation”. We can’t wait to see the creative floats, the zany characters and join in the laughter as we usher in the big guy himself…Santa! December 6, 6 pm.

Before the parade, the merriment begins with Reindeer Games, Candy Cane Relays, a Christmas Cash Scavenger Hunt, lots of food, great live music featuring Collin White, Kaylee Lawrence, & Jacob Hayes...and, of course, the lighting of the Campbellsville Christmas Tree. Beginning at 3 pm. Oh.What.Fun!

Plan a holiday getaway.

With all the hustle and bustle around the holiday season, a great respite for you and your loved ones is time spent relaxing together. There are many options for Campbellsville lodging, including a great selection of hotels, motels and other places to stay. Imagine a cozy cabin near Green River Lake or a spacious vacation home or Airbnb, all close by to historic Downtown Campbellsville.

The holidays are a perfect time of year to visit this charming historic town while it’s all decorated and ready for festivities. While you’re in the area, take time for Kentucky Civil War history around the Tebbs Bend Battlefield and explore a 200-year-old working farm at Homeplace on Green River. A beautiful place to really reduce your stress levels are the trails and natural spaces – over 50 miles of trails -- that make Campbellsville a certified Kentucky Trail Town.

Eat. Drink. Catch some holiday music and theater fun.

Campbellsville University’s   performance of An Appalachian Christmas Carol: The Immersive Experience invites you to walk through this holiday classic where the story surrounds you, a lantern light guides your path, and live Appalachian music brings every moment to life. Performances December 4-13.
