Sharing the Blessings of our Kentucky Home

Cathy Peabody • November 22, 2025

As we transition to the cooler weather and get a sense of winter ahead, it’s time to pause and reflect on our blessings…family, home, freedom, and the beauty around us.

Crops are harvested and fields lay fallow for next year’s growth, and leaves crunch under our boots as we wander along well traveled trails that are the reason Campbellsville, in Central Kentucky, is designated as a certified Kentucky Trail Town. Perhaps we are remembering the brave soldiers who helped to shape Kentucky Civil War history as they fought on the Tebbs Bend Battlefield, or the pioneers who settled and created a homestead at Homeplace on Green River, or the nature lovers who left their marks forever on the land around Campbellsville and Taylor County, Kentucky.

Let’s Gather.

Whether you’re from the area or if you are looking for Campbellsville lodging options or for a place to gather your family or friends, there are plenty of places to stay and a variety of things to explore that will create a memorable experience for all.

Campbellsville has a great selection of hotels and motels, including nationally recognized brands convenient to downtown Campbellsville and to shopping and restaurants.

For gathering your family or friends, you will also find a selection of cabins and condos around Green River Lake, a great way to relax together and just a short drive to downtown Campbellsville for restaurants and nightlife. Or for larger accommodations, you might want to choose a vacation rental or AirBnb, all within a short distance to the dynamic downtown area.

Enjoy a lively historic college town.

Campbellsville, in Central Kentucky, exudes small town charm…with Campbellsville University’s active campus and a variety of shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars there is always something to do for everyone. Lovely Green River Lake is a short drive away and walking, hiking and biking trails abound.

Campbellsville loves to celebrate! It’s not too early to put their five-day Fourth of July celebration on your calendar for next year or to make your plans for an old-fashioned Christmas Parade and Festival coming up. Check the calendar for updates on Campbellsville KY events!

Gather Around the table at a family friendly restaurant

You won’t go hungry around Campbellsville! You’ll find a tempting variety of cuisines…anything from the best fried chicken tenders and family buffet in the area to award-winning pulled pork or an all-American menu at the last standing Druthers’ Restaurant in the country. Campbellsville restaurants have got you and your appetite covered!

Follow history on a Civil War Trail.

Nearby Tebbs Bend Battlefield is the site of a significant battle fought here during the American Civil War. The site includes a 3-mile driving loop with 12 narrative stops depicting the battle and a memorial to the Confederate soldiers that were fallen there. It also includes the Toll Gate House, a transportation museum featuring toll houses, keepers and artifacts dating to the 1800’s.

If you’d rather walk and take in the beauty of the nature areas and an assortment of trails, the site also includes over 7 miles of picturesque hiking trails with two trailheads available, one at the Toll Gate House museum and one at the adjacent Homeplace on Green River.

Visit a 200-year-old working farm and homestead.

Homeplace on Green River is your chance to walk in living history and to experience the agrarian beginnings of this Central Kentucky community. This continuously working farm has been named Kentucky’s Outdoor Classroom and is the site of educational and commemorative events that remind us about the importance of agriculture in our foundation and in preserving our future.
