Take it Outdoors!

Kentucky outdoor activities include family hiking. Campbellsville is a Kentucky Trail Town.

Spring is the perfect time of year to enjoy Kentucky outdoor activities, and Campbellsville, Kentucky is right in the center of some of the best Kentucky outdoor attractions for the entire family.

Just a few minutes away from Campbellsville at the beautiful Green River Lake State Park, you’ll find many things to do like swimming, fishing, camping, and boating. But you will also find opportunities to explore an historic civil war battlefield, visit a 200-plus-year-old working farm and homestead, enjoy the small town charm of Historic Downtown Campbellsville and stroll the campus of the adjacent Campbellsville University, and experience Campbellsville KY events like the largest Fourth of July celebration in Kentucky and the Jets over Kentucky airshow.

Your Kentucky outdoor adventures begin on the trails.

Campbellsville in Kentucky is a certified Kentucky Trail Town, a designation given for its abundance of hiking, bicycling, mountain biking and horseback trails.

The Trails system starts downtown with the Central Loop Trail, a 3.1-mile urban trail for walking, jogging, and bicycling. The trail is a great way to experience Historic Downtown Campbellsville and the campus of Campbellsville University, Miller Park, Health Care Park, and the Historic Homes of Lebanon Avenue and High Street. Bicycle racks are available throughout.

The Trace-Pitman Greenway, a 1.8-mile trail right in Campbellsville, along Little Pitman Creek and Trace Creek, is an enjoyable spot for jogging, walking, bicycling, and picnicking.

Clay Hills Memorial Forest, once a part of the early 1800’s Clay Hills Farm, is a few miles outside Campbellsville and includes four peaceful hiking trails covering nearly six miles.

Mountain bikers, from beginners to advanced riders, enjoy more than 20 miles of biking trails in and around the Green River Lake campground and around Green River Lake.

Tebbs Bend Green River Nature Trails, near the historic Tebbs Bend Battlefield, offers over 7 miles of picturesque hiking trails.

To find the perfect trails for you, visit the Trailhead downtown or download the Campbellsville-Taylor County Trail maps and you’re off to your Campbellsville outdoor adventures.

Plan your Green River Lake Kentucky Vacation.

Green River Lake has more than 147 miles of shoreline, with three marinas, boat ramps, and boat rental options. Enjoy sandy beaches and relax in a selection of cabins, condos and in the Green River Lake Campground.

Fishing is great…some of the best in Kentucky for bass and crappie. An expert from a Green River Lake Guide service can help you find the best spots and give you tips for your best catch!

Take a Break from the Lake.

From the Green River Lake Campgrounds, you’re just a short drive back to downtown Campbellsville and its selection of family-friendly restaurants, shopping, amenities, movie theater, bowling and other activities to take some time away from rainy lake days.

For non-campers—or if you’re more into history, the unique agritourism experience of a heritage farm and homestead, the charm of a vibrant small downtown and the cultural arts like the MasterWorks Festival at Campbellsville University— Campbellsville has a selection of hotels, motels and vacation homes to make your stay comfortable.
